Is this program equivalent to a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points system?
Although the Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program is designed on HACCP principles, it is not a formal HACCP system. It will not qualify for entry into the European Union under the feed hygiene regulations (EU 183/2005).
However, the American Feed Industry Association has developed an international version of the Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program, known as the International Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program with an EU feed ingredient organization. Click here for more details.
